Rendering Error

Appears to be an error with chunk rendering. It loads the same chunk repeatedly in the area outside of the max render distance and randomly and rapidly switches to a different chunk. The error only occurs if I set the render distance above 7 chunks.
Side note: This was an issue in 1.8 and now also in 1.8.1
I have since installed Optifine and that didn't fix the problem
