Hit boxes render behind water when actually in front of water

I was casually farming my melons, and when i happened to look at one of the stem's hit boxes when water was behind it, i noticed that it was as if i was looking THRU the water.

if you look carefully at the screenshot, you can see the hotbox in the water. it is NOT invisible
