One server crashes game; others works fine

So I'm trying to play on my friends server. My other friends can get on just fine. I can also get on other servers just fine, but whenever I try to join his server, the screen freezes on the dirt background for a couple of seconds, then the game crashes back to the launcher. We've tried all we can think of too no avail.
