Items dissapearing in inventory

Gamerule keepInventory was on. I opened my inventory and died while it was open. My inventory stayed open and i decided to rearrange it while I was dead. I clicked on a stack of blocks and then clicked on an axe in my inventory, and the axe dissapeared
