Jump button takes repeated attempts to jump or fly

I hadn't been on Minecraft in a few days and when I got on, using spacebar to jump or fly took repeated attempts. I tried using other buttons for jump, and they all worked but when I changed it back to spacebar, it worked for about 30 seconds before not being able to jump.
