Minecraft total reset

This does not happen every time, but ever since I have updated to Minecraft 1.8, there have been once or twice that everything that minecraft stores in its folders is deleted. Mainly this is:
Worlds,Sever List, Settings, Versions & Profiles.

I feel very strongly that this should be fixed, because it is a very bad thing to lose your minecraft worlds.

As a reminder, this is a completely involuntary reset.
I cannot add any attachments because there's no crash; it just happens.
