Map won't work after traveling to Nether

After traveling to the Nether, my map no longer functions. In the Overworld the cursor is frozen and doesn't move. I tried leaving the map in the Overworld when traveling to the Nether but it still broke.

Making a new map solves the problem but I don't want to keep making new maps.
