resource pack issue

*What I expected to happen was..i downloaded a new resource pack made by a friend who made the resource pack size 424x424 when said to be 64x64

What actually happened was...:
my minecraft gets to the mojang loading screen and crashes before loads
saying something about data

Steps to Reproduce:
1. download a 424x424 resource pack
2. load up minecraft with the resource pack equiped
3. when i reload the game it gets to the mojang loading screen then the game crashes
