Can't collect resources

When I begin the game in survival mode I find that I kill animals and destroy plants in the game. But when it came to cutting wood or other resources it became impossible.It shows that I am interact with the world but doesn't do anything. I even tried with tools and came up with the same result. Conversely, when I played the game in creative mode and I was able to destroy anything that was in front of me but couldn't collect any resources. I have had this problem since I bought the game over a month ago and i really want this resolved. Also, the last time I post this issue, some one left me with som mediocre advise and closed the issue without my permission. I don't want that to happen again.
