My Server only shows steve skins!

I don't know if its just because im canadian or if its the fact that im using utorrent but my server doesn't show peoples skins and in 1.8-pre2 it doesn't even show my player skin it might not be a bug but its very annoying can u guys try to fix it I really want to see my skin on my server
