Tnt minecarts instantly explode if they are about to fall off a cliff

Whenever you lead a minecart track off a cliff it would just simply fall to the bottom

However I've tried this multiple times, both in survival and creative, and whenever a tnt minecart is about to fall off a cliff it just
explodes instantly without any warning. However this has not been tried in multiplayer.

To reproduce this bug:
1. Make a trail of any type of rails.
2. Dig a 2x2 or larger hole at the end of the rails
3. Push the tnt minecart into the hole
4. It should explode.
