Starting the game a second time crashes the game on Linux

Restarting the Minecraft client results in the client failing to start back up.
What I expected to happen was...:
The game would launch as normally.
What actually happened was...:
The game crashed before the game window opened.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Minecraft 1.8 pre-release
2. Close Minecraft 1.8 pre-release
3. Open Minecraft 1.8 pre-release (fails, generates attached crash report)
