I can't craft fences or fence gates!

As of snapshot 14w34d, I can't craft fences or fence gates. Please fix because this is a game changing experience. Here's how I found out- I was building a porch, and realized I need fences. So I went to my crafting table and arranged the sticks in the correct formation.( And yes, i was using sticks) And then, no output.
