Item Frames on Slabs Hard to Place Items Into

When I place down an item frame on a slab, it is near impossible to get an item into, I don't know if this is intentional, but I CAN get one or two, but I have to do it from the side, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. This is on multiplayer, and others have the same issue. I cannot break them either, or take the items out.
