Enchanted item glow causes graphics crash that requires restart.

When looking in chests, inventory, or anywhere ls a there is a large amount of items with the enchanted glow (enchanted books, swords, tools, armor, etc.) the game will suddenly without warning cause all of my screens to go black.Any audio that is playing in the background will continue for 1-2 seconds and then cut. The only way to fix it is to do a complete restart.
