Stairs surfaces not rendered correctly

Surface rendering on stairs, either right side up or upside down, is not correct.

The attached images show cobblestone stairs resting on sand in all eight possible orientations, one image looking north and the other looking south. Stairs of other materials are similarly misrendered

This feature works correctly in 14w32d.
