Minecraft crashes and freezes up my whole computer when i click multiplayer

I load up Minecraft 1.7.10, and when I hit the "Multiplayer" button, Minecraft freezes and then freezes up my whole laptop and makes the internet crash for a few minutes... Singleplayer works fine, its only when I click multiplayer.
