Cannot place Pumpkins on Pistons

I searched and couldn't find this.

If you try to place a Pumpkin/Jack O lantern on a full block considered transparent, it will not place even though an animation displays. This has been observed on Pistons, Glass, Leaves, Glowstone and TNT.
