Respawn in fire after dying from falling onto normal ground

In Minecraft Pocket Edition 0.9.5 for iPad, I was building a platform above ground in survival mode, far enough to die if I fell. I fell off the platform, hit ground and died. When I respawn, I respawn in fire and die in a second or two. I have no chance to get out of the fire. Each time I hit respawn I still am in the fire and can't get out.
