Cannot connect to lan world

I opened a lan world, my sister tried to connect on her computer but received the message 'Failed to connect to server java.net.connectexception connection timed out: no further information'. Then tried the other way and I recieved the message 'authentication are down for maintenance'. I have tried shutting down my firewall, as well as hers, restarting the modem,nothing has worked.
