Blocks not placing/disappearing straight away

Sometimes when breaking a block it will drop the item but the block will remain there for a few seconds. You can also walk through it. Same thing with placing blocks. Sometime they will be put there but disappear for a few seconds. You can see the black outline when they are invisible.
