inventory and chest contents disappear when loading older versions

i know this was already posted. mojang said it was already resolved, but it kept happening. when i load a game in a snapshot and go back to the release version, all the stuff in my inventory and chests disappeared. i rage quitted my favorite survival world because of that. and it doesn't seem that loading backups works.
