Every world I create is corrupted before starting

I downloaded Minecraft Pocket Edition v0.9.4 (the above "Affects Version" field wouldn't let me enter that version number) on my phone and have been unable to play at all. Every time I try to create a new world (named different things), I get an error that says that the new world "is corrupted and can't be started"

I'm not trying to recover a corrupted world - just play on the app at all.
