Random Lag then Crash in the sand dunes

I had just finished mining underground and came up to go back to my house. I was running over sand dunes as usual and saw my house finally and headed towards it. Then, as I was running towards it, the game started to lag, then skipping frames, then finally crashed after about 6 or 7 seconds of lag.
