mouse pointer weirdness after quit

After quitting minecraft, the mouse pointer has a strange dot pattern in two columns (one below the pointer, another to the right and below). This pointer problem is seen throughout osx, in all applications, until restart.

To reproduce:
1. start minecraft
2. play minecraft
3. quit minecraft

I tried to make a screenshot, but the pointer isn't visible.
