Minecraft Client lag

Recently, I have been getting a lot of lag on minecraft, I used to run it at about 200 FPS but then suddenly it dropped down to 30-20 and occasionally goes down to 10. I do not know why this is happening and I seem to be able to run other games such as GTA, Watch Dogs better than I can run minecraft which is very odd.
