When harvesting carrots a single carrot replaces equipped iron boots

When harvesting any farmable item (carrots, wheat, potatoes, seeds, etc) any equipped boots/empty boot slot are replaced with a single harvested item, deleting the iron boot you had equipped.

What I expected to happen was...:
A carrot or multiple carrots should appear in my inventory

What actually happened was...:
Iron boots replaced by a carrot.
