Breaking 2 tall flower immediately after looking at it for the first time with F3 on crashes Minecraft

Had F3 on and I broke a 2 tall flower immediately after looking at it for the first time. Minecraft crashed with:

java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Cannot get property azi

{name=facing, clazz=class dw, values=[north, south, west, east]}

as it does not exist!

Seems like one of those rare obvious cases. Full crash report included as an attachment.
