Ender Crystals leave a floating fire animation when not destroyed on obsidian or bedrock

Whenever the layer of obsidian below the Ender Crystal is removed or an Ender Crystal is summoned in the air or on any block but obsidian/bedrock and said Ender Crystal is destroyed, a one-sided flame (like the side of wood burning) is suspended in the air. It does not go away unless a block is put in its place or the game is exited and re-entered. This only happens in The End.
