Commands based on scores fail

i have a game-mode switching script on my server
this worked months ago
it SHOULD work now
but this hasnt been fixed for 2 months so im posting the bug

the command example is:
'/gamemode 2 @a[m=0,score_InProtectedArea_min=1]'
i have checked my score is above 0, i have checked my gamemode is 0
the command returns 'player not found' or something
please fix this _ been waiting months
