Digging down under water, texture fail

When I dig down in a little lake (underwater) the textures are disappearing.

What I expected to happen was that I will see stone and can dig down more.

What actually happened: I digged down and all the textures disappeared, except the caves and lava.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to a lake in a land-biome (mine was plains)
2. Go underwater and dig down (if that works correct, dig down at the granite)
3. See how the textures are failing.
