Vertical hovering torches when placed against ceiling block (feature?)

When placing torches underneath a block (or have them generated in villages), they can end up vertically.

It seems reproducible when clicking a ceiling block adjacent to a vertical block. Instead of being at an angle it's vertical in the air.
