Thrown Splash potions show test texture before landing

As I was curing a Zombie Villager I used the Splash Potion of Weakness and I noticed that instead of the usual texture of the vial being thrown through the air, instead there was a 2x2 purple and black checkered square. I think it may be all splash potions that are affected since I then made 3 splash potions of poison and had the same thing happen.
