Redstone Comparator and Redstone Repeater placed opposite of the player

I was going to put in a redstone door for my hut, using redstone repeaters.

My creation didn't work, and then I realized that the repeaters were the opposite way of what I wanted.I tested it out again with both the comparator and the repeater, and they both did the same thing.

Steps.
1. Go into inventory and grab either a comparator or repeater.
2. Close inventory...
3. Place down the repeater/comparator and notice it is the opposite way it should be.
