Launching problem for Minecraft (Mac OSX Lion 10.7.5)

Downloaded Minecraft launcher via Google Chrome straight from Minecraft.net and unzipped it using Keka and put the Minecraft.app in my applications folder just as the site said and attempted to launch but once i launch it, the Minecraft icon keeps bobbing up and down for about 3 minutes then the icon disappears, with the the game not launching completely
