Opening Chests Causes Game to Crash

What I expected to happen was...:
A chest to open with it's game animation and show inventory/ chest contents.

What actually happened was...:
The game froze as soon as the inventory/ chest contents appeared on-screen and then crashed showing a message saying that 'Java(TM) Platform SE Binary is not responding'.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Load world.
2. Find chest.
3. Attempt to open said chest, and wait for game crash.
