Lag When Mining Anything

Hello there, i have just started up a new minecraft world (Amplified on windows 8) and any single block i mine, i get a massive lag spike. not one where your frozen and cant move for a while, i mine a block and the block doesnt break for like about 10 seconds. please help me. i did it on an adventure map and a regular survival. thanks!
