sign.edit with §(color) changes the sign color

When editing the sign.edit to "sign.edit=§(color)text here" and NOT adding §r to the very end, it makes the sign the color used.
Example: "sign.edit=§aEdit sign message" makes the sign green
Making it "sign.edit=§aEdit sign message§r" fixes it
