Game not saving items.

My game has recently started to not save things. I made a whole house in an NPC village, logged out came back to it, and it's gone. I keep making bookshelves, adding them to my enchanting room, log out, come back, and gone and so are the materials I used to make them. I lead animals to my barn, put them in, log out, come back, and also gone. WTF?
