screen grays out when i touch a block to destroy it.

I will be playing normally on either survival, creative, or multiplayer and when i hit a block my screen just turns gray. I can temporarily fix it by swinging my mouse around and clicking randomly but it happens again anyways. It also grays out when i am using fireworks i light it and it turns gray if i look at it.
