Experience orbs can catch on fire

Not sure if it is on any other versions. Found by shooting zombies across a river of lava with the bow, and as the experience circles flew across the river of lava to me they caught on fire in a manner similar to when you throw items into lava or fire. Luckily they were picked up in time to not destroy them, however this raises the question of whether or not they can be destroyed by this.
