Teleporting while in a minecart dosn't work

Used a command block teleport while i was in a minecart. Minecart kept going and i was left in the same spot not in the minecart. This caused a constant repitition of the moving minecart sound from the spot. continued after i left the world and went back in but stopped when i closed and re opened minecraft.
