Breeding on LAN Broken/Graphical Issue?

Hosting a Open LAN server at my house I tried breeding some cows. I had 40 wheat in hand and used it all up. I thought it only took one wheat to make the hearts go over the cow? My animals won;t breed and I guess because love mode is never turned on. This is very disappointing and hope this can be fixed soon. Not sure how I could show this as a picture so I just said how to duplicate it.
