Lead is buggy, not visible, cannot be unattached from fence normally

When I go to use the Lead item on mobs, the part I'm holding disappears. When attached to a fence, the 'knot' is not visible except at certain angles, and is not retrievable unless you destroy the fence post and stare at the mob until the mob drops the Lead (until the mob drops it, its suspended where the fence was).
