(dont know if actual bug) Minecart with player bug

When I was inside a minecart I wasnt going through nether portal.

I thought I would go through the portal on the minecart and come out the other end.

Instead I just sat there in the minecart inside he portal not teleporting (I was in creative but may also be a bug in survival)

Steps to Reproduce:
1. I got into a minecart
2. I was riddig on a track going to a nether portal
3. I just sat there not doing anything in the portal
