Tools don't "Break"

When a tool disappears from your inventory due to it being worn down, It doesn't crumble to bits and won't play the sound.
EDIT: This happened with a sword where the sound wouldn't play, I broke my pickaxe and the sound played. But it didn't crumble.
EDIT 2: It seems when it dies of attacking, It plays no sound, Dies of mining, Plays sound.
