Minecraft will not open game after using launcher

What I expected to happen was...:
The game launcher would close, and then a new window would open, and thus I could play minecraft

What actually happened was...:
The launcher closed, re-opened, and displayed the bug report page.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Launch the "minecraft launcher"
2. Login and hit "Play"
3. That's all. It crashes after that
