Minecraft dying bug

I was trying to die in the world and when i opened chat, the game dont showed the death screen

What I expected to happen was...:
Die and see the death screen

What actually happened was...:
Die and dont see the death screen

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Fall from a high place
2. Open chat
3. When you falled, you can send a message, but the death screen is not showed
