nether portal to end

when i went through a portal with the minimum settings for a redstone activated portal i was teleported to the end not the nether i'm guessing the tick required to replicate it is between 35 and 36 ticks cause i had it set to 36 ticks and the portal turn on a little before i got there and turned off right before i was teleported but i was still teleported but it was to the end it was actually in 1.7.2 but the list doesn't go back that far
