14w11b misplaced vine glitch

Today I placed some vines down on my base. Once the vine began to grow, it moved off the face of block I placed it on and over to the side into the air. I'm not really sure how this happened, but it's bothering my OCD quite a bit. I really hope this can get fixed soon!
